Niseko Annupuri International Ski Area works well for a holiday built around lessons, repeated practice and a convenient mountain base. When planning your first day, the useful questions are where to meet your instructor, collect equipment and catch the return bus. Keeping those three places in Annupuri can make the day easier to manage than trying to explore the entire mountain immediately.

This guide focuses on Annupuri itself for the 2026–27 season. If you are still choosing among the four bases, start with our Niseko ski area guide. Annupuri, Niseko Village, Grand Hirafu and HANAZONO belong to Niseko United, but their base entrances, lesson meeting points and ticket coverage are different.

Who should choose Annupuri?

A complete beginner can make speed control, stopping and safe lift use the goals for day one. Family, Paradise and Junior are beginner courses, but that classification does not mean someone with no experience can descend safely alone. Let an instructor choose suitable terrain before paying for a pass covering far more of the mountain than your lesson needs.

If you can already link controlled turns, use Annupuri for a full day of technique practice, then consider other areas according to your ability and the weather. Groups with very different abilities may find separate lessons and a shared lunch meeting more practical than staying together on every run. If eating in Hirafu every evening matters, include evening transport in your accommodation decision rather than comparing room prices alone.

2026–27 dates, operating hours and Annupuri-only day tickets

The planned season runs from 28 November 2026 to 5 May 2027. The table shows Annupuri-only adult day tickets and scheduled resort hours; prices are in Japanese yen, with the adult category covering ages 16–64. Individual lifts can have different operating dates and closing times, and snow, wind or other conditions can change the plan. Check the official live lift status before leaving. Opening day does not mean every run will open.

Find your base: Nook, the gondola station and the trail map

Identify Nook Annupuri and the Annupuri Gondola station when you arrive. The official facilities plan places the bus stop, changing rooms, dining and lockers around Nook, while the ticket counter is at the gondola station. These serve different purposes: booking a lesson does not mean you can check in by joining the lift queue. Save the specific meeting point from your confirmation offline, rather than only saving the place name Annupuri.

Use the official base facilities plan for your pre-lesson movements and the 2026–27 Niseko United map below for the relationship between resorts. Annupuri appears on the left, with Nook, Northern Resort and bus stops marked at the base. This is a four-resort overview, not a live opening report or proof that different operators’ tickets are interchangeable.

Beginner terrain: look beyond the green line

Family, Paradise and Junior are beginner-graded. Family is 580 metres long with a maximum gradient of 11 degrees; Paradise is 560 metres with a 12-degree maximum; Junior is 960 metres with a 13-degree maximum. These figures help compare practice options but do not describe ice, visibility, crowds or the day’s surface. First-timers should have an instructor assess the route and their ability to load and unload its lift safely.

If you can link turns, warm up on familiar open terrain before increasing the distance. Utopia and Panorama are intermediate. A lift reaching higher ground does not guarantee an easy route back: inspect the whole descent before boarding, and make sure everyone can handle its hardest section independently. See the official course descriptions for grades.

More experienced skiers should also separate in-resort skiing from backcountry plans. An all-mountain ticket does not override closures or prohibited areas. Stay out of closed gates, do not cross boundary ropes and follow the Niseko Rules. The suggested days in this guide use open resort terrain, not backcountry shortcuts between bases.

Annupuri-only, Annupuri–Village or all-mountain?

Start with the areas you actually intend to ski. Compare Annupuri-only tickets for lessons and practice here, the two-resort common ticket if you also intend to use Niseko Village, and Niseko United All Mountain if Grand Hirafu or HANAZONO is part of the plan. The Hirafu–HANAZONO two-resort ticket does not cover Annupuri. Nearby Moiwa is also outside Niseko United’s four-resort coverage.

Adult one-day comparison for 24 December 2026–28 February 2027
Ticket Resorts covered Published official price
Annupuri-only Annupuri ¥7,800
Annupuri / Niseko Village common Annupuri, Niseko Village ¥11,600
Niseko United All Mountain (counter price) Annupuri, Niseko Village, Grand Hirafu, HANAZONO ¥13,500

For those same peak-season dates, the all-mountain counter price is ¥5,700 more than Annupuri-only. More coverage is useful only if it serves your day: someone repeating one or two practice runs may gain little from it, while a skier taking a cross-resort lesson needs the appropriate scope. Before buying, compare Annupuri ticket conditions and all-mountain prices and coverage.

An Annupuri five-hour ticket runs continuously from the first lift ride; it is not five separate hours you can distribute freely. Check consecutive-use rules for multi-day products too. Allow for lunch, children’s breaks and equipment collection when estimating your first run, then compare shorter-duration and day options. Confirm which pass your lesson requires before buying overlapping tickets.

Lesson languages and rentals: match the meeting point first

Check English and Chinese instruction separately

Niseko Annupuri Snow School, or NASS, has announced 2026/2027 winter bookings, and its daytime private lessons explicitly offer English. Private lesson meeting counters can be at Nook or Northern Resort. Follow your own booking confirmation rather than choosing whichever counter happens to be closest.

For Mandarin or Cantonese, check Snow and Flow’s 2026–27 lessons; compare those languages, English and Annupuri options. Specify the date, language, skiing or snowboarding, children’s ages and group size. A booking website available in Thai or Korean does not establish that instruction is offered in that language: obtain explicit confirmation if you need it.

You can also compare Klook’s private Niseko lessons in Chinese or English, including options meeting at Annupuri. Check the actual resort, meeting location and lift-ticket and rental inclusions for your selected date and package. A product labelled Niseko is not automatically an Annupuri-only lesson, and an equipment bundle may not include every accessory.

Check collection, return and every item included

NASS rental information helps with pickup planning: Sports Rent Ciao is opposite the school reception at Nook. The Niseko United rental directory offers other rental choices to compare. Check skis, boots and poles, or snowboard and bindings, then ask separately about jacket, trousers, helmet, goggles and gloves. When giving your height, boot size and ability, also confirm availability of any unusual sizes.

Treat boot fitting, adjustments, changing, luggage storage and lesson check-in as a complete part of the morning. Your bus arrival time should not also be your lesson start time. Raise uncomfortable boots before heading out instead of tolerating them to catch an early lift. Work backwards from your return transport when choosing your final run: the rental return deadline and lift closing time are separate constraints.

Getting here: finish the journey at Annupuri

From New Chitose Airport or Sapporo, winter buses and pre-booked transfers can reduce equipment handling. Check that your chosen service actually stops at Annupuri rather than booking solely because its destination says Niseko. A bus to Hirafu, Village or a different hotel can leave another journey to arrange. Allow for immigration, baggage collection and flight delays, and settle the final connection in advance if arriving late.

A rail journey can run through Otaru towards Kutchan or Niseko station, followed by a bus or taxi. Neither station is the ski-area entrance, and a train ticket does not include onward transport. Travellers with several equipment bags, children or a late arrival should confirm that connection before departure. Compare options in our New Chitose Airport to Niseko guide and Sapporo to Niseko guide.

The Niseko United access page is a starting point for current operators and shuttle information. Pass-based shuttle eligibility or deductions depend on the all-mountain product and its validity that day; do not treat an Annupuri-only ticket as proof of free transport. Drivers should weigh winter-driving experience, equipment, road conditions and the walk from parking, rather than scheduling a lesson immediately after a normal navigation estimate.

Where to stay: arrange dinner and transport with your room

For consecutive days of Annupuri lessons, prioritise accommodation that can explain the journey to your actual meeting point. Niseko Northern Resort Annupuri is a starting point for comparing base-area stays. It has a hot spring and hotel services, and some NASS private lessons meet at the school counter inside the hotel. Even near the slopes, room, meal, rental and lesson arrangements remain separate items to check.

Compare Northern Resort Annupuri room options and booking conditions on Trip.com using your actual dates. Look at the total, breakfast or dinner, cancellation deadline and child policies rather than a headline lowest rate. Do not treat an older hotel rental schedule as a guarantee for this winter.

If staying elsewhere, ask the property how you will reach Annupuri in the morning and return in the evening, especially after night skiing. For families and first-timers, an unhurried breakfast, equipment preparation and reliable lesson arrival can outweigh a lower room rate requiring several daily transfers. Our Niseko ski accommodation guide compares the wider area.

One day, two days and night skiing: leave room for conditions

A sensible first day

Confirm the meeting point, equipment and return transport the evening before. Complete rental and check-in first, then spend the morning learning to stop and turn with your instructor. After lunch, practise only on suitable open terrain recommended by that instructor and finish early if tired. Leave time to return equipment, change and reach the bus stop. This sequence is more useful for beginners than filling every minute of lift operating time.

Use a second day for the coverage you really need

Learn the Annupuri layout on day one, then decide whether day two calls for more practice or another resort. Before crossing areas, check the ticket, connecting lifts, return route and last boarding times together. Wind can close upper connections: getting across in the morning does not ensure you can ski back later. If the link closes, use a confirmed road transfer rather than entering closed terrain.

Annupuri plans night skiing from 12 December 2026 to 22 March 2027, 16:30–19:30, with an official night ticket of ¥3,700. Only that evening’s open terrain is available; daytime runs do not all remain open. Beginners should become familiar with a route in daylight, then reassess visibility, energy and warmth before continuing. Saving energy for tomorrow is worthwhile if already tired. Check dates on the official Annupuri overview.

Annupuri skiing FAQ

Are Annupuri and Niseko the same ski resort?

Annupuri is one of Niseko United’s four ski areas. It has its own base facilities and single-area tickets. A bus, lesson or lift ticket labelled Niseko does not automatically cover Annupuri.

Does a first-timer need an all-mountain pass?

Usually, choose the pass your instructor’s plan requires. Someone practising only at Annupuri may never use the wider coverage. Confirm whether your lesson already includes a pass and which lifts it needs before paying.

Does the Hirafu–HANAZONO pass cover Annupuri?

No. That two-resort pass excludes Annupuri. Annupuri–Village is a different two-resort product; choose the appropriate Niseko United All Mountain ticket for all four areas.

Can I stay in Hirafu and take daily Annupuri lessons?

You can arrange road transport, but check the meeting time, current-season services and return journey. A beginner should not rely on skiing across the upper mountain as a punctual daily commute.

Are Chinese, Thai or Korean lessons available?

This guide links providers explicitly advertising Mandarin, Cantonese and English options. Confirm Thai or Korean instruction, the date and instructor directly with a provider; the booking-page language is not the teaching language.

Does equipment rental include everything I need?

Not necessarily. Clothing, helmets, gloves and goggles may be priced separately. Check your own base layers, ski socks and personal items too. Match a written inclusion list to your needs rather than relying on the words full set.

Will every run open in early or spring season?

There is no guarantee. Planned season dates, price periods and actual terrain openings are different information. Check live lift status and allow for a different practice area or a shorter day.

Can I ski back to another resort after night skiing?

Do not build your plan around it. Night terrain and upper-mountain connections are different operations. Arrange a road return in advance and follow that evening’s operating notices.

Your selected dates, package and checkout conditions apply.
