Mokumoku Farm’s Christmas season works best for families who can drive and want daytime farm activities followed by a tree lighting. A large fir at the entrance becomes a Christmas tree, with a small house beneath it for photographs. A separately booked Christmas party adds dinner and entertainment, but you do not need to buy a party place simply to see the tree.

Free tree viewing begins November 14, 2026, with illumination starting at 17:00 each day. The announcement does not yet give a final display date or nightly switch-off time. Check directly before making a late arrival or visiting only the entrance on a farm closure day; the party’s 20:00 finish is not an illumination closing time.

Choose the tree, the farm or the party

The autumn events page carries the current tree announcement. The Christmas party page has separate dates, prices and booking rules.

Experience Main practical point Best for
Entrance tree Free viewing; lit from 17:00 from November 14 A short stop on a driving trip
Farm and tree Farm opens at 10:00; activities and entry have separate rules Families interested in animals and making things
Restaurant party Seven December dates; reception 17:30, event 18:00–20:00 Visitors with a booking and settled night transport

The destination is 3609 Nishiyubune, Iga, not a Mokumoku restaurant in Kyoto or Nagoya. The farm warns that navigation searches can instead return its Gozaisho service-area outlet or Tsu restaurant. Check the city and address carefully.

Without a car or a budget for taxis both ways, a family attraction in Nagoya may be easier. The appeal here is the farm itself, not effortless access from a city railway station.

See the tree by day and after switch-on

The large fir has a handmade atmosphere, with a house beneath it that visitors can enter for daytime photographs. Families can photograph the small details first, then step back for the illuminated tree after 17:00.

Strawberries, animals and other decorations in past photographs suggest the atmosphere, not an item-by-item 2026 layout. Enjoy the natural tree shape and small house rather than choosing the visit for a height figure.

Allow roughly 20–30 minutes for a tree-only stop, including walking and pictures, as a planning suggestion. Add separate time for food or the party. Keep clear of vehicle routes when framing the full tree, and share access to the little house with other families.

Christmas party dates, prices and booking

The 2026 party takes place inside PaPa Beer Restaurant on December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 24. It combines a meal with entertainment, and the organizer welcomes costumes. General applications are open to everyone, not only club members.

Item Published 2026 arrangement
Reception and event Reception from 17:30; opens 18:00, finishes 20:00
Junior-high age and older ¥6,800 per person, tax included
Elementary-school children ¥2,800 per person, tax included
Preschool children aged 3+ ¥1,500 per person, tax included
Children under 3 Free
General applications From November 2,2026 at 10:00

As of October 2026, member priority applications had closed and general applications had not started. Follow the application process linked from the party booking page when it opens; the opening date does not guarantee availability on your preferred night. The members’ restaurant reward card does not apply to this special event fee.

Two adults and one elementary-school child total ¥16,400 for the party, calculated from the published prices. Transport, accommodation and other activities are additional. The announcement mentions Santa in an anticipatory way but does not publish a fixed gift-giving programme, so do not promise children a particular presentation time or gift.

Daytime animals and workshops finish before the evening

The animal-activity page lists mini-pig performances, milking, feeding and pony experiences at different times. They do not all continue after dark just because the entrance tree is illuminated.

Under the October 2026 general schedule, mini-pig performances are at 12:30 and 14:30 on weekdays, with 10:30 added on weekends and public holidays. Milking sessions are 10:30–11:10 and 15:00–15:40. Participation is listed as free, but farm admission is separate, and weather, animal welfare and reduced winter operations can affect the programme.

A milk-soap workshop runs at 13:00 on November weekends and public holidays: about 45 minutes, ¥500, and 25 places including accompanying adults. Children through second grade require a guardian. Online reservations close at 17:00 the previous day; same-day participation depends on remaining capacity. This programme is announced only through November, not automatically for the December party dates.

A practical family plan is to arrive before lunch, select one or two activities, take a break and stay for 17:00 switch-on. If you have booked the party, consider a later start rather than turning the day into a compulsory ten-hour outing for young children.

Entry charges and reduced winter operations

The current farm operating page lists normal admission of ¥800 for junior-high age and above, and ¥600 for children aged three through sixth grade. Entry becomes free after 15:00 on weekdays and 16:00 on weekends/public holidays.

It separately identifies December 2026 as reduced winter operation, with free weekday admission and closures on December 2 and 9. Some facilities operate differently. A November daytime visit, a December weekday and an entrance-tree-only stop therefore have different practical and pricing implications. Free entry does not include a paid workshop, party or hot-spring visit.

Shops, cafes and restaurants also keep their own schedules. A special party at PaPa does not make the normal lunch service an everyday Christmas dinner. Check ordinary dinner availability separately if you are not attending the party.

Pets cannot accompany visitors inside the farm. Smoking is restricted to designated areas. The farm permits homemade packed lunches, water bottles and specified hydration drinks such as water, tea and sports drinks, rather than unrestricted outside food and alcohol.

Driving or arranging a station taxi

The farm access page explicitly says there are no regular or shuttle buses from nearby stations. A taxi from JR Tsuge or Shindo takes around 15 minutes; from Uenoshi on Iga Railway or JR Iga-Ueno, around 25 minutes. Vehicle availability is limited, and the farm recommends advance reservations. This is especially important for a 20:00 party departure.

For drivers, the final journey is approximately eight minutes from Mibuno Interchange on the Meihan National Highway or 15 minutes from Konan Interchange on the Shin-Meishin Expressway. These are interchange-to-farm times, not total journeys from Nagoya or Osaka.

Our Nagoya car-rental guide can help with departure planning. Whether a rental is worthwhile depends on party size and the rest of your route, not simply on the tree being free. If returning to the city, settle your Nagoya transport connections. The driver should not drink alcohol at the beer restaurant.

Staying nearby: understand the cottage price

OKAERi Village, beside the farm, has dome-shaped cottages and avoids a long journey after the party. Its pricing combines a cottage charge with a per-person charge. The adult figure of ¥3,500 is not the total price of a night.

Current standard cottages start at ¥22,000 per cottage per night, plus ¥3,500 for each junior-high-age/adult guest, ¥1,700 per elementary-school child and ¥1,100 per child aged three or above. Breakfast is included; the cottage charge depends on date and category. Staying guests receive two days of farm admission, but accommodation and party availability must still be checked separately. Farm closure days and the previous night also affect stays.

For a short tree visit without the party, returning to your existing Nagoya hotel may be enough if transport is workable. A cottage night is an option, not a requirement for seeing the decorations.
