Umeda Tsurun Tsurun Ice Rink 2025–26 turns a winter-light outing into an active stop beside Osaka Station. It occupies Grand Front Osaka’s Umekita Plaza, not an indoor shopping floor and not the Christmas market at Umeda Sky Building. The historical season described here ran from November 22, 2025 to February 23, 2026, with January 1 closed. The dates, prices and discounts below are that season’s record, not a newly announced winter timetable.
The most important family decision is whether the accompanying adult is willing to skate. Preschool children must have a ticketed guardian wearing skates with them inside the rink; watching from outside is not enough.
Season dates and operating hours
The MBS organizer page retains the complete 2025–2026 arrangements. Unlike some nearby Christmas decorations, the rink continued into February.
| Historical 2025–2026 arrangement | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Season | November 22, 2025–February 23, 2026 |
| Closed | January 1, 2026 |
| Ordinary weekdays | 12:00–21:00 |
| Weekends and Japanese public holidays | 11:00–21:00 |
| Winter-holiday opening | 11:00 from December 22, 2025 to January 5, 2026, except the January 1 closure |
| Last admission | 20:30 |
| Busy periods | Two-hour limits and entry controls may apply |
Last admission is not the ideal time to begin changing shoes. Leave time for ticketing, fitting skates, becoming comfortable on the ice and returning equipment. A possible two-hour limit is not a guarantee of two hours’ skating regardless of weather or operating changes.
The title sponsor’s seasonal announcement also warns that weather and events can change opening arrangements. Nearby shops remaining open does not establish that this outdoor rink is operating.
Ordinary prices and the cost of accompanying a child
Published skating prices included skate hire and consumption tax.
| Historical ticket category | Price per person |
|---|---|
| Adult | ¥2,000 |
| University student | ¥1,800 |
| High-school student | ¥1,700 |
| Junior-high age or younger | ¥1,500 |
At ordinary rates, one adult accompanying a preschool child costs ¥3,500, with both going onto the ice. If the adult does not want to skate, choose a different family activity rather than expecting to send a young child in alone.
A two-adult advance ticket cost ¥3,000, but its sales deadline was November 30, 2025. It was not an unrestricted December walk-up offer. An old ticket page remaining online does not establish that a valid new-season product is available now.
Discounts: Christmas dates were important exclusions
The following historical discounts were sold at the venue. Read the exclusions as carefully as the weekday names.
| 2025–2026 offer | Terms | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday group offer | Four or more together, ¥1,500 each | December 23 and 30, 2025 |
| Wednesday/Thursday Family Day | One adult plus one child of junior-high age or younger, ¥3,000 total | December 24, 25 and 31, 2025; February 11, 2026; January 1 was closed |
| Weekday evening offer after 19:00 | Adult ¥1,500 | December 22, 2025–January 5, 2026 |
An eligible evening can make sense for an adult wanting a short skate. For children who need more time to settle in, saving ¥500 is not necessarily worth pushing the activity late. An evening discount does not extend the 21:00 closing time.
The group’s ¥1,500 per-person rate also equalled the ordinary child price. Calculate the actual group total instead of assuming every participant receives the same saving.
Gloves, phones and rink conduct
Gloves are mandatory and were also sold on site. Bring a suitable pair and choose clothing that allows comfortable movement, with outdoor waiting and changing shoes in mind.
Skaters must travel anticlockwise. The rules prohibit dangerous speed, weaving and group skating, and three or more people may not skate holding hands together. Do not sit on the fence; follow staff directions about moving and stopping.
Phones and cameras are prohibited while skating. Ask someone who is not skating to photograph from a permitted position rather than trying a moving selfie. The organizer also refuses entry to people who have been drinking, so leave mulled wine or other alcohol until after the skating activity.
Keep valuables securely with you or use a locker. Do not assume that the rink provides large-luggage storage. Settle suitcases before an activity that requires changing footwear and managing belongings.
Getting to the right plaza
The Grand Front access guide gives Umekita Plaza’s address as 4-1 Ofukacho, Kita-ku, Osaka. Use the specific destination “うめきた広場” or “グランフロント大阪” rather than a general search for an Umeda rink.
For the wider journey, consult Osaka transport or the Kansai Airport–Osaka comparison. A single skating session is not, by itself, a reason to buy an extensive regional rail pass.
Grand Front recommends public transport because nearby roads and parking can be busy. Its current parking page has separate charges and spending-linked conditions. Do not assume rink admission automatically provides free parking.
For planning, allow about 1.5–2 hours for the overall stop, including tickets, changing and breaks; this is not a guaranteed skating duration. Skate first, then eat and see the Grand Front Christmas decorations, checking each attraction’s own season dates.
If some companions prefer not to skate, agree on a meeting point and finish time instead of expecting them to wait outdoors throughout. The Osaka winter-illumination guide can help with an optional later stop, but a tired family need not add several districts after skating.
