Choose your Furano ski accommodation around how you will reach the slopes each day. For several consecutive ski days, start with hotels near Kitanomine Gondola. For skiing, dining and hot-spring bathing in one resort setting, consider Shin Furano Prince Hotel in the Furano Zone. Hotels near JR Furano Station make more sense if you are skiing for only one day and also taking the train to Biei or Asahikawa. A lower room rate in town may offer less of a saving once you add return transport and the effort of carrying ski equipment.

This guide compares 10 distinct properties, comparing access to the slopes, room types and the needs of different travel groups. For a broader sightseeing trip, see our general guide to staying in Furano. Once you have chosen your base, use the Furano ski resort guide to plan runs, lessons and equipment rental. Any price positioning below is a relative guide rather than a fixed room rate. Compare meals, child policies, taxes and cancellation terms for your actual travel dates.

Three Things to Check Before Booking for the 2026–27 Ski Season

The official Furano Ski Resort website gives the resort’s overall planned operating period as November 28, 2026 to May 5, 2027, subject to snow conditions and operational changes. This does not mean Kitanomine, every lift or the connecting runs between the two zones will be open throughout that period. For early-season or spring stays in particular, check which base area will be operating on your dates before choosing a hotel. A location close to a gondola on the map does not guarantee that you can walk out and ski during your stay.

The Kitanomine and Furano zones connect via mountain runs when these are open, but they have separate entrances at the foot of the mountain. Beginner lessons may meet at a specific base, so confirm the location of your instructor and rental shop before booking accommodation. If you ski across to the other zone, allow enough time to catch the lifts back. When the connecting runs are closed, you will need to travel by road; skiing between zones cannot serve as a dependable hotel transfer.

Winter buses and hotel transfers are separate services. Airport buses use designated stops, while hotel transfers may be restricted to guests, require reservations or operate only for arrival and departure. The new town-to-ski-resort shuttle announced by the tourism association adds another option from Furano Station, but you still need to check each afternoon return departure. Families with children and anyone returning to their hotel after dinner should also have a workable alternative.

Choose the correct base before booking the hotel

This 2025–26 reference map shows the relationship between bases and hotels, not 2026–27 openings. Shin Furano Prince Hotel is at the Furano Zone on the left; Kitanomine and its Terminal are on the right. Confirm the lesson base and rental pickup/return point before choosing your hotel and bus stop. Upper-mountain connections depend on openings and ability. Beginners and non-skiers need a road-transfer plan rather than treating connecting runs as a guaranteed hotel shuttle.

Kitanomine, the Furano Zone or the Station: Which Base Suits You?

Near Kitanomine Gondola: Less Distance to Carry Your Equipment

Fenix Furano, NOZO HOTEL and Hotel Naturwald Furano suit trips built around skiing. Staying here makes it easier to keep equipment rental, early lessons and breaks in your room within the same base area. If one person finishes skiing early, the whole family need not wait for a bus together. Even among hotels described as close to the slopes, road crossings, gradients and snow clearance vary. If you are travelling with young children, ask about the actual route from the hotel entrance to your meeting point.

On the Edges of Kitanomine: More Room Choices if You Plan Your Transport

HITOHANA, Hotel Munin, Edel Warme and Chalet Burlap Furanui offer different layouts and styles. They suit travellers happy to settle the transport arrangements first, then compare accommodation comfort. A short distance on the map can still be awkward in ski boots. One option is to leave your equipment at the rental shop and walk in winter boots with good grip, but confirm storage, changing facilities and next-day collection rather than assuming everything is free.

The Furano Zone: Resort Facilities Together, with Dinner Best Planned Ahead

Shin Furano Prince Hotel suits families who would rather avoid working out transport from town every day. Alongside skiing, you can plan hot-spring visits, Ningle Terrace and hotel dining, although these facilities have their own operating dates and charges. For a stay of several nights, deciding in advance which evenings to eat at the hotel and which require a trip into town is usually easier than looking for transport after check-in.

JR Furano Station: Convenient for Trains and Town, with Extra Travel to the Slopes

La Vista Furano Hills and Furano Natulux Hotel suit travellers skiing for only one day or catching a JR train the next morning. Restaurants and shopping in town are easier to combine, but every ski day involves a journey to the mountain. When comparing room rates, include return transport for the whole group, waiting time and luggage storage. Even if three or four people plan to split a taxi, check that the vehicle can carry your ski equipment rather than looking only at the standard fare.

A Closer Look at the 10 Hotels

Compare the Furano Zone with Kitanomine before choosing these hotels from the guide. Match the base to your lessons, equipment and evening meals, and check which resort connections operate on your dates. Confirm the exact room category, occupancy, lift-pass inclusion and transfer arrangements rather than assuming every rate includes them.

Klook

1. Shin Furano Prince Hotel

Shin Furano Prince Hotel is in the Furano Zone and suits travellers who want skiing and resort facilities in one place. Its strengths are its position at the ski base and amenities such as Shisai-no-Yu hot springs, restaurants and Ningle Terrace. Families avoid carrying their equipment up from the town centre every day. Even at a hotel close to the slopes, check where your lessons meet: a Kitanomine meeting point will not be just outside this hotel.

Dining in town still requires transport, so longer-stay guests should plan their evening meals. Early-season visitors also need to check the hotel’s November maintenance and phased reopening arrangements. The ski resort’s opening date alone does not establish when every restaurant or the hot-spring baths will open. Check your chosen package for bath access, meals and lift passes; the presence of a facility at the hotel does not mean it is included free of charge.

A good fit for families, first-time visitors to Furano and groups that include non-skiers. If you want to explore town freely every evening, weigh up the cost of travelling back and forth.

2. Fenix Furano

Fenix Furano stands opposite Kitanomine Gondola. Its main advantage is the convenience of setting out each morning, collecting rental equipment and returning to your room. Hotel-style rooms and multi-bedroom apartments suit different groups. Larger families wanting separate bedrooms and a shared living area can start by comparing the apartments. Its skiing convenience depends on Kitanomine being open on your dates, which is particularly important early in the season and in spring.

Do not assume every room has a full kitchen and laundry facilities simply because the property offers apartments. Check the number of beds and bathrooms, the kitchen available to you and the cleaning schedule, then compare the total with booking two standard hotel rooms. The gondola-side location suits consecutive ski days, but the views and space shown in photographs belong to particular units. Book against the details of your actual room type.

A good fit for larger families, groups of friends and longer stays, especially when saving time on journeys to the slopes matters.

3. NOZO HOTEL

NOZO HOTEL is in Kitanomine and offers ski storage, a children’s room and Sugi Spa. It suits travellers who want to stay near the base while having useful facilities inside the hotel. Couples can begin with the double-room options, while families should check the arrangement of beds and sofa beds. Maximum occupancy and comfort once winter luggage is unpacked are separate considerations.

Sugi Spa has communal baths and a sauna for relaxing after skiing. Guests must follow the rules for the baths and children’s facilities. Although the slopes are conveniently reached on foot, allow time when walking in ski boots with equipment. Confirming where to collect and return rental gear can prevent an unnecessary round trip after breakfast.

A good fit for couples, families and travellers who value newer facilities. Check the room size, bathroom and any equipment you need before booking.

4. Hotel Naturwald Furano

Hotel Naturwald Furano faces the Kitanomine ski area, and suits family trips and stays with babies and young children. For parents taking children skiing for the first time, a location near the base, easy room breaks and workable meal arrangements can matter more than securing the lowest room rate. Children’s lessons may be short, and a nearby hotel makes it easier for adults to split up if someone needs to return in the afternoon.

Amenities and meals vary by room type and package. Enter your children’s ages, whether they need their own beds and their meal requirements when searching. For airport buses, use the boarding and drop-off locations listed for the current season’s route. Being near a stop does not mean every service calls there. Arrivals by JR still need onward transport from Furano Station.

A good fit for families with young children, beginner skiers and travellers who want a straightforward daily routine.

5. Winery Hotel & Condominium HITOHANA

HITOHANA is on the edges of Kitanomine, combining a wine theme with hotel rooms and apartment-style accommodation. If you would like more comfortable space to unwind after skiing, compare it with properties immediately beside the gondola entrance. Focus on the specific room type; the hotel’s name alone does not guarantee a kitchen. Couples and families should both choose according to the bedding and actual floor area.

The hotel advertises winter ski transfers that require reservations, while station transfers also come with restrictions. Ask the hotel to confirm arrangements against your planned station arrival, early lessons and skiing finish times. In particular, an arrival or departure transfer should not be treated as a vehicle available for daily trips into town. Transfer schedules may change by season, so confirm that they fit your plans before booking rather than waiting until arrival to ask about transport.

A good fit for couples and longer-stay families who value room comfort and are happy to work around reserved transfers.

6. Hotel Munin Furano

Hotel Munin Furano combines Nordic and Japanese design with communal baths and a semi-open-air bath, making it an option for a ski trip for two. It suits a rhythm of skiing in the morning, relaxing at the hotel in the afternoon and then deciding on dinner, rather than spending the whole day within a large resort. The bathing facilities are a highlight, but communal baths should not automatically be understood as natural hot springs.

The ski resort is generally around a five-minute walk away. This is a general indication of proximity, rather than a promise that you can reach a particular gondola or lesson meeting point in that time while wearing ski boots. Add a buffer for carrying equipment and snowy conditions. You will still need to arrange transport from JR Furano Station, and should check your route back to the hotel in the evening.

A good fit for couples, two friends and travellers who appreciate design. If you need a large room or accommodation for more people, compare the relevant room types directly.

7. Hotel Edel Warme

Hotel Edel Warme is a resort hotel in the Kitanomine area worth considering for rooms accommodating several people and its communal baths. For groups of three or four, check whether each person will sleep in a regular bed, an extra bed or Japanese-style bedding as well as comparing the total price. Two rooms both listed for four guests can have very different layouts and luggage space. These details are more useful for judging family suitability than the star rating alone.

There is still a walk between the hotel and Kitanomine Gondola, so do not assume you can ski straight from your room. Airport bus stops and transport from the hotel to the slopes are separate matters, and should be checked against the current season’s arrangements. If you have no experience driving on snow, prioritise a clear plan for buses, walking and a backup taxi. A larger room is not a reason to feel obliged to rent a car.

A good fit for families, small groups of three or four and travellers happy to walk a little in exchange for more room options.

8. Chalet Burlap Furanui

Chalet Burlap Furanui offers chalet-style accommodation in Kitanomine. Compare main-building rooms and separate chalets individually. Smaller groups who like the atmosphere of a small property can begin with the main building, while families seeking a more self-contained space should read the chalet descriptions. Both belong to the same property, but the location and facilities depend on the accommodation you book.

The 2026–27 winter package includes ski-resort transfers that must be arranged in advance. If you plan to rely on them, obtain confirmation of pickup times and the return journey first. Despite the location near Kitanomine, a booking platform’s ski-in/ski-out label should not be taken to mean that no walking is necessary. The property’s Thoron bath is man-made rather than a natural hot spring.

A good fit for small groups, longer stays and travellers who enjoy a chalet atmosphere. Before booking, confirm whether you are reserving a main-building room or a chalet, along with bathroom arrangements, arrival time and luggage storage. Low-season starting rates are not a reliable guide to value during peak ski dates.

9. La Vista Furano Hills: A Natural Hot-Spring Hotel

La Vista Furano Hills is around a three-minute walk from JR Furano Station as a general walking reference. Its natural hot springs are a key point of difference when comparing hotels in town. It suits travellers skiing for only one day, continuing to Biei or Asahikawa on other days, or wanting to eat in town in the evening. After skiing, you can return to the hotel to bathe without finding a separate facility, subject to the hotel’s bath rules.

Being close to the station does not put you close to the gondola. Each ski day requires a bus or taxi journey. Before booking, check whether you can reach your morning lesson on time and which services return to town after you finish skiing in the afternoon. Looking only at the outbound journey understates the practical burden. For stays of two nights or more, compare remaining in Kitanomine throughout with moving to the station area for the final night, but avoid repeated hotel changes merely to save one transfer.

A good fit for JR-based trips, travellers who want natural hot springs and itineraries with a stronger sightseeing focus.

10. Furano Natulux Hotel

Furano Natulux Hotel is in front of Furano Station and suits late arrivals, onward train connections the next day and one-night stays. Leaving your luggage at a station-area hotel before eating and shopping in town is usually easier than taking everything to the ski resort first. The reason to choose it is convenient access to trains and the town, rather than the ability to step outside and ski each morning.

You still need transport to Kitanomine or the Furano Zone. If you plan several consecutive ski days, include these return journeys in your comparison. Check the floor area of your chosen room, ski-equipment storage and how any baths or spa facilities may be used for your particular booking. A hotel’s name or photographs do not establish the facilities in every guest room. Also check the actual designated stops for airport buses.

A good fit for rail travellers, short stays and overnight stops between connections. Families carrying large ski bags should prioritise room space and luggage arrangements.

Choose for Your Group: Slope Access, More Space or Hot Springs?

For a first ski trip, confirm which base your instructor uses before comparing Fenix, NOZO, Naturwald and Shin Furano Prince Hotel. Families should also consider afternoon naps, children’s meals, bedding and rental-equipment sizes. Kitanomine hotels and the Furano Zone resort each offer practical advantages, but no single property meets every family’s needs. To compare other Hokkaido ski destinations, see our guide to family ski accommodation in Hokkaido.

For a longer stay with a larger group, first compare specific apartment types at Fenix and HITOHANA, then check whether Edel Warme or Burlap has suitable rooms for your group. For a trip for two, NOZO, Munin and HITOHANA are useful starting points. If natural hot springs are essential, Shin Furano Prince Hotel and La Vista are more direct matches. Confirm views, kitchens and laundry facilities for your actual room type rather than choosing on hotel photographs alone.

On a tighter budget, compare cancellable rates at Burlap, Edel Warme and the station-area hotels for the same dates, then add transport for the whole group. During Christmas, New Year, Lunar New Year and other popular periods, any of these options can cost more than on ordinary dates. Secure terms you are comfortable with and keep track of the cancellation deadline. A lower prepaid rate also needs to be weighed against the cost of changes caused by weather, flights or your travelling companions’ plans.

Airport and Sapporo Transport: Check the Connections Before Booking

The Hokkaido Resort Liner airport route for this season lists airport-to-Furano services from December 1, 2026 to March 30, 2027, and the reverse direction from December 2 to March 31. Check flight connections, designated hotel stops and luggage rules before choosing accommodation. The airport bus does not operate for the ski resort’s entire season.

You can also compare the Klook New Chitose Airport–Furano bus product, but use the dates and stops actually available to book. A product page is not a guarantee of year-round services. If your flight arrives late, avoid forcing a connection with the final bus; consider accommodation near New Chitose Airport instead. If you will stay in Sapporo first, see the guide to transport from the airport to Sapporo.

From Sapporo, compare highway buses, JR journeys with transfers and seasonal ski buses. Our Sapporo to Furano and Biei transport guide covers the options. Allow at least one overnight stay for a ski trip; two nights make it easier to keep one full day for skiing. Avoid trying to fit Sapporo, Otaru and skiing in Furano into the same day. If you are continuing to Asahikawa, use the Asahikawa transport guide to compare your onward plans.

How to Plan One or Two Nights

For a one-night stay, use your arrival day to check in, arrange rental equipment and confirm the ski base. Ski the next day, then leave according to your return transport schedule. If you arrive in the afternoon, do not also fill the plan with Biei, the zoo and skiing: the time available is shorter than the “two days” shown on a calendar. If you have an early lesson, ask when you can store luggage at the hotel and collect equipment rather than assuming you can check in early in the morning.

For two nights, arrive and prepare your equipment on day one, ski for a full day on day two, then choose between a half-day on the slopes and travelling to Biei or Asahikawa on day three, depending on your energy. Plan activities for non-skiing companions on the second day so everyone can still meet for dinner. If you stay in town, put lesson times, outbound and return buses, and equipment-return deadlines together in one itinerary to check that they work.

Furano Ski Accommodation FAQs

1. Where should I stay for my first ski trip?

Check your instructor’s meeting base first. The Kitanomine area is convenient for walking to rental shops and lessons. For resort facilities together in one place, consider Shin Furano Prince Hotel in the Furano Zone. Early in the season and in spring, confirm that your chosen base will be open.

2. How many nights should I stay in Furano?

For one day of skiing, stay one or two nights; two nights make it easier to preserve a full ski day. Add more time if you also want to visit Biei or Asahikawa rather than squeezing every attraction into your arrival and departure days.

3. Which hotels suit larger families?

Compare Fenix’s multi-bedroom apartments, suitable room types at HITOHANA, and group accommodation at Edel Warme and Burlap. NOZO, Naturwald and Shin Furano Prince Hotel are also worth checking against your children’s needs. Always verify bedding, meals and age conditions.

4. Which hotels have natural hot springs?

Natural hot springs are available at Shin Furano Prince Hotel and La Vista Furano Hills. Communal baths at properties such as NOZO and Munin should not automatically be treated as natural hot springs. Burlap’s Thoron bath is man-made rather than a natural hot spring.

5. Can I ski every day while staying near the station?

Yes, but you need return transport every day. As well as reaching the slopes in the morning, check afternoon services, equipment storage and a backup if you miss a departure. Then compare the total cost with staying closer to the slopes.

6. Does every room at Fenix have a kitchen?

Do not assume so. Hotel-style rooms and apartments have different facilities. Check the kitchen, laundry, bed count and cleaning details for the actual room type you book, and apply the same checks to HITOHANA.

7. Do the 2026–27 airport buses start on the same day as the ski resort?

No. The resort’s overall planned opening date is November 28, while Resort Liner lists December 1 as the start of its airport-to-Furano route. Check transport separately for early-season travel; the return direction also has its own operating dates.

8. Can I travel directly between Kitanomine and the Furano Zone?

The two zones connect via mountain runs when these are open, subject to lift operation, snow conditions and the connecting routes being available. Beginners and non-skiing companions should arrange road transport in advance. Before leaving your base, confirm how you will return to the side where you are staying.

9. Do I need a rental car if I have never driven on snow?

You do not need to feel obliged to drive for a ski trip. Combine airport buses, JR trains, reserved hotel transfers and taxis, checking every connection in advance. For more remote accommodation, also have a plan for meals and your return journey.

10. Which hotel is always the cheapest?

There is no fixed answer. A meaningful comparison uses the same dates and includes room type, cancellation terms, meals, taxes and transport. The lowest advertised starting rate on a booking platform does not guarantee the same price for your ski holiday.
