Tajimi’s Tajimination is an easy finish to a daytime visit rather than a major light-park expedition. Kokei Yosui Plaza sits immediately outside JR Tajimi Station’s north exit, avoiding another rural bus transfer. The previous edition used water, blue-and-white arches and glowing fish artwork across a bowl-shaped plaza that rewards a short walk rather than one photograph from the entrance.

The complete late-2026 programme is still pending. The account below preserves the actual December 2025–February 2026 edition; older Christmas-tree photographs should not be treated as a promise of identical decorations every winter.

Water-themed arches and community artwork

The venue’s December 7, 2025 announcement describes waterside lighting, aquarium-inspired arches and illuminated flowing water. The plaza’s shape makes the overall scene visible before you descend into it.

Tajimi DMO’s detailed report records around 20,000 LEDs, blue-and-white arches, luminous workshop-made fish and waterfall-like lighting beside the channel. These were artistic interpretations of local water environments, not an aquarium displaying live animals.

Feature Suggested approach
Plaza and arches Start with the layered overall view, then move closer for portraits
Channel and waterfall-inspired lights Look for reflections from the normal walking paths
Dark-covered tunnel and fish Notice the different community-made shapes
Artwork by the proposed city-hall site Compare blacklight fish and local high-school artwork before and after dark

Seeing the area in fading daylight and again after dark makes sense here. One reveals colour and materials; the other reveals the lighting effect. There is no need to keep repeating the same photograph while waiting for complete darkness. Display positions and works belong to the recorded edition and may change.

The lights and fountain had different finishing times

Historical 2025–2026 arrangement Time
Plaza illumination season December 7, 2025–February 15, 2026
Lights Sunset–23:00
Fountain during that season 17:00–20:00, subject to safety changes
General plaza access Currently listed as 24 hours, not 24-hour seasonal illumination

For the fountain and lights together, 23:00 was the wrong deadline to use. Conversely, the fountain stopping did not mean every light immediately switched off. Sunset also varies by date, so do not assume that every date had a fixed 17:00 illumination start.

The plaza rules distinguish ordinary public access from booked event use. Round-the-clock access does not permit camping, overnight stays or fireworks. Keep photography within the walking areas rather than stepping into the water channel.

North for the main display, south for a different station view

The plaza introduction places the plaza at 1-229 Otowacho, immediately outside the station’s north exit. Railway visitors can decide how much to see according to weather and energy without committing to another transfer.

Two nearby displays added variety in the previous season. The north-side multistorey car park had seasonal stained-glass window displays through February 15, 2026. South of the station, the pedestrian deck linking the station to Platy Tajimi carried blue-and-white lights through the same date, but operated 16:00–24:00. That midnight finish did not apply to the northern plaza.

Your plan Practical choice
A brief stop Prioritise the north-side themed area and keep a railway buffer
More varied photographs Add the car-park windows and cross the station to the southern deck
A pushchair or young children Identify lifts and paths before chasing every viewpoint
Returning to Nagoya Choose the return train before adding the southern extension

The Nagoya transport guide helps with the departure end. Lights lasting until 23:00 are not a reason to remain until then; an earlier pre- or post-dinner walk can be enough.

Parking: no dedicated event lot, and small cash matters

The venue explicitly has no dedicated car park. The adjacent Tajimi Station North multistorey car park operates around the clock and lists 417 spaces.

Current ordinary rates are ¥100 per 30 minutes, a maximum ¥800 per 24 hours from entry, and a ¥300 night-period cap for 18:00–08:00. Do not automatically treat that night cap as the whole charge for a visit beginning before 18:00; check the posted calculation.

Vehicles must be no more than 4.9 metres long, 1.85 metres wide and 2 metres high. The car park does not accept credit cards or ¥2,000, ¥5,000 and ¥10,000 notes. Prepare ¥100 or ¥500 coins, or ¥1,000 notes. For a tall rental vehicle or a wallet containing only large notes, these details matter more than a generic “parking nearby.” The Nagoya car-rental guide provides wider driving context.

Lights do not guarantee a late dinner or a sweets market

The plaza also hosts food trucks and sellers, but their days and lunch or evening hours vary. The DMO’s January 2026 vendor schedule demonstrates the distinction: some traders operated only at lunchtime, while others had selected evening dates until 20:00. The plaza’s 23:00 lights did not extend their trading hours.

Search results may also show the earlier Sweet Illumination and Sweets Village programme. Those belong to a different season. If a market is the main reason for travelling, verify the actual edition, dates and vendor announcement rather than assuming sweets stalls accompany every illumination evening.

For a dedicated excursion from Nagoya, compare the Nagoya winter-light guide first. If Tajimi already fills your daytime itinerary, this station-front finish is much more natural. The Nagoya hotel guide can help align the railway return with your base.

Frequently asked questions

Which side of Tajimi Station is Kokei Yosui Plaza on?

Immediately outside the north exit. The southern pedestrian deck is a separate nearby display, not the same plaza.

Did the fountain continue until 23:00?

No. The previous season listed the fountain at 17:00–20:00, subject to safety changes, while illumination continued until 23:00.

Is there free event parking?

The plaza has no dedicated lot. The neighbouring station-north car park charges and has vehicle-size and payment restrictions.

Does 24-hour access allow an overnight stay?

No. The public-access rules expressly prohibit camping and overnight stays.
