Tokyo Midtown Yaesu Christmas is best used as a short evening around Tokyo Station, not as a replacement for a large Christmas market. It suits travellers staying near Yaesu, finishing a shopping day or looking for a manageable festive stop before a train journey.

Be specific when navigating. Tokyo Midtown Yaesu is on the station’s east side; it is not Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi or the Hibiya development. The shared brand does not mean a shared location or programme.

Christmas and winter lights have different end dates

Programme 2026 arrangements Planning implication
Midtown Yaesu Christmas November 19–December 25, 2026; 16:00–23:00 Visit during this period for the Christmas programme
Yaesu Winter Lights Continues until February 14, 2027 A later winter walk is still possible
Main venue First-floor Galleria, Atrium and nearby areas A ground-level visit rather than an observation-deck outing
Admission Free Food, shopping and separate activities are extra

The Yaesu Christmas calendar distinguishes the two seasons. Do not assume that a January visit retains the Christmas tree and every December decoration unchanged.

Look beyond a single tree photograph

MIRAGE VOYAGE draws on Yaesu’s history of movement and exchange by water. An approximately 40-metre illuminated route centres on a seven-metre tree, with traditional shippo patterns connecting the design. The station-side pavement along Sotobori-dori joins the illuminated area, while Tokujin Yoshioka’s STAR receives limited-period lighting.

A useful way to see it is to walk the setting first and choose your photograph afterwards. Start with a wide composition showing the tree in context, then take a closer portrait with a simpler background. This avoids treating every decorative element as a separate destination. Keep the normal walking route clear rather than waiting for an empty frame in the middle of it.

Allow 30–60 minutes for a light walk and photographs. A meal or shopping stop can make it longer, but the illumination does not need to consume an entire evening.

Getting there without choosing the wrong side of Tokyo Station

The Yaesu access guide confirms an underground connection from JR Tokyo Station via the Yaesu Underground Mall, with an underground route from the Marunouchi Line station as well. Kyobashi Station on the Ginza Line is another nearby option. The address is 2-2-1 Yaesu, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

In rain, use the underground connection to reach the building before deciding how much of the outdoor display to see. Underground access does not make every illumination area an indoor attraction.

Before a Shinkansen departure, establish your platform, luggage plan and station-entry time first. The suggested viewing duration is not a transfer-time guarantee. If arriving from the airport, the Narita Airport–Tokyo Station guide can help you decide whether this is realistic on your arrival evening.

Should you combine it with Marunouchi or Roppongi?

Time available Sensible choice
Less than an hour Stay around Yaesu rather than chasing another Midtown venue
Time for both sides of the station Add a separate Marunouchi illumination walk
A full evening Choose one or two areas around dinner, not every branded Christmas destination

Use the Tokyo winter illumination guide to compare different styles. Roppongi’s Christmas lights are a separate district outing, not an extension of the same plaza.

Who may prefer another event?

Choose something else as your main destination if you want rows of wooden market stalls, rides or an all-evening ticketed experience. Yaesu’s appeal is its convenient setting and compact design-led walk.

It works particularly well when companions have different energy levels. Agree on a finishing time, see the main route, and make dinner or the return journey easy. There is little benefit in stretching a pleasant short stop into a compulsory search for every decoration.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ticket for the tree?

Viewing the tree and lights is free. Purchases and separately arranged activities are not automatically included.

Will the seven-metre tree remain after Christmas?

The Christmas programme ends on December 25. The later end date belongs to Yaesu Winter Lights, not a promise that every Christmas installation stays.

Can I arrive underground?

Yes, via the Yaesu Underground Mall. Ground-level street lighting still involves outdoor space.

Is this the Roppongi Midtown event?

No. Yaesu, Hibiya and Roppongi are separate locations and need separate travel planning.
